National Handball Award for Crossakiel’s Eugene O’Reilly
Crossakiel Handball Coach Eugene O’Reilly was presented with the National Handball “ Coach of the Year” Award in the Hogan suite in Croke Park last evening. The All-Star Handball Awards is the social event in the Handball Calendar. Over 400 people attended last evening’s awards ceremony. RTE’s Marty Morrissey & Evanne Ni Chuilinn were the MC’s for the evening. O’Reilly was the Leinster nominee for the overall award along with Tom Foody Connacht, Donal Hayes Munster & Matin Mullin Ulster.
It has been a fantastic year for O’Reilly who reached 2 provincial finals in 2010. Last May he travelled to Burlington Ontario to take part in the Canadian Nationals and came away with an historic 2 titles.
Crossakiel just reformed 12 months ago and O’Reilly has been instrumental in much of the Club’s success over the past year. Already the club has 40 Juveniles players with a number of them tasting success. James Baugh won the Leinster 60 x 30 B singles final in Ballymore Eustace and a week later Johnny Reilly was runner-up in the Boys U-15 singles final. Before taking on the role as Club Coach in Crossakiel O’Reilly was coach in the Abbeylara Club where he did stupendous work. He also somehow finds time to line out with the Ballinlough GFC Intermediate team. It is a fully deserved award for O’Reilly who has put in outstanding work in Juvenile Coaching this year. The Crossakiel Club congratulates Eugene on his National Award.
Well Done Eugene. Congratulations on another wonderful achievement well deserved.
