Big test for Crossakiel club players in Leinster finals.
Crossakiel club players are involved in 2 Leinster finals this weekend. James Baugh is the club’s 1st player into action when he takes on Dylan Walsh son of the legendary Michael “Ducksy”Walsh of Kilkenny handball fame. Baugh faces an uphill battle as he takes on Walsh who won the 15 & Under USHA title 2 years ago. Baugh beat Louth’s Brian Collins in round 1 and received 2 byes to reach Sunday’s final. The young Crossakiel player is doing well in training and will no doubt give it everything in the Meath colours on Sunday. Walsh will start as favourite but Baugh will rise to the occasion and could take the scalp of the Kilkenny player in what could be an absorbing encounter.
Our U-17 doubles also face a difficult assignment as they take on Dublin’s Corey Fay & Cian O’Dalaigh. The Dubliners were beaten in the U-15 doubles All-Ireland semi-final in 2009 and were Leinster runners-up last year. Gary Reilly & Johnny Reilly Jnr had an excellent 21-14, 17-21, 11-6 win over a fancied Darren Lambert & James Maddock of Wexford in the provincial semi-final. The club’s dynamic duo have every possibility of recording another historic victory here. A close contested is expected and with the large club support behind them all the way it may just be enough to carry them to victory.
