Reilly retains Christmas Juvenile competition

Gary Reilly winner Christmas Juvenile competition with Johnny Reilly runner-up

Today's competition was the young Crossakiel players’ first opportunity to taste real competitive action in the 40x20 code and all are showing a great adaptation to the game. Gary Reilly was to the fore on the day winning the final 15-5, 15-10, and in doing so retaining the title he won in the club’s 2009 Christmas competition. His opponent time time around was Johnny Reilly, who was likely feeling the effects after having just played a grueling 3 game match in the semi-final, over the fiercely determined Cormac Gilsenan, on a scoreline of 10-15, 15-7, 15-8. In the first semi-final of the day, Gary Reilly had overcome Conor Rice, 15-9, 15-4. Rice had earlier over come Jack Tunney 15-11, 15-5 and Gilsenan had accounted for Killian McCaffery 15-10, 15-2. This was a great opportunity for the players to put the many hours of training into practice and to get their 40x20 seasons back on track after the disruptions brought about by the recent inclement weather conditions. The Meath County championships will be scheduled towards the end of January, giving all our players a month to get their preparations completed. Once again congratulations to Gary Reilly on winning the 2010 Christmas juvenile boys event.
