Michael Gaynor’s impressive showing for Meath

Crossakiel club player Michael Gaynor had an impressive outing in the 1st round of the Leinster Handball Championships 40 x 20 with an exciting but narrow victory over Carlow’s Oliver Ryan played in Kilbeggan last evening. Gaynor had to pull out all the big shots before getting the better of the Carlow man in an enthralling contest. Crossakiel’s Junior player Steven Quinn gave a very good account when going down to Offaly’s Noel Murphy by 21-12, 21-14 in Delvin also last evening. There was no luck for the Farrell brothers Mark & John however as both fell to Wexford & Dublin opponents respectively. On Wednesday evening in the O’Raighallaighs Club in Drogheda it is the turn of doubles pairing Pat McCabe & James Higgins to go into action as they take on Kildare’s Damien McCarthy & Neville Doyle in this 1st round encounter.
Junior B Singles: Michael Gaynor (Meath) dft Oliver Ryan (Carlow) 21-18, 21-20
