Leinster handball championships 60 x 30 2011
Thursday 7th July
At Arklow
8.00. JBD Michael Gaynor & Mark Farrell (Meath) v David Kenny/Diarmuid Smyth (Wexford)
Improvement required if Gaynor & Farrell are to see of the slaneysiders
Crossakiel's Michael Gaynor & Mark Farrell go into round 2 of the doubles where they will face Wexford's David Kenny & Diarmuid Smyth. Gaynor & Farrell had a good 21-18, 21-12 victory over Kildare's Gary Balfe & Myles Carroll last Saturday evening. This will be the 1st test for the Wexford men in the doubles. The Crossakiel pair have a game under their belt but struggled to put away their Kildare opponents in round 1. They will face a much sterner test this time round against the slaneysiders. Michael Gaynor is battling with a troublesome shoulder injury that has curtailed his handball in recent weeks. It should be a good contest between 2 battling teams and hopefully the Royals will come out on top in this duel.

Quinn tough opener against Lambert while O'Reilly & Flanagan to progress
Leinster 60 x 30 handball championships 2011
Wednesday 6th July
At Arklow
8.00. Junior Singles: Stephen Quinn (Meath) v Paul Lambert (Wexford)
At Mullingar
8.00. JBD Eugene O’Reilly/Peter Flanagan (Meath) v Kevin Cooke/Sean Ryan (Offaly)
Quinn up against it while O’Reilly & Flangan to reach round 2
Steven Quinn begins his singles campaign and it could have not been tougher baptism of fire. The club chairman takes on Wexford’s Paul Lambert. The Ballyhogue club already has a match under his belt the Wexford player defeated Carlow’s David Dononvan in round one. Crossakiel players already have seen Lambert in action as in last year’s Leinster Junior B doubles final Lambert and Peter Hughes defeated Crossakiel’s Eugene O’Reilly & Peter Flanagan before going onto win the All-Ireland title. Quinn will have to play something like his best form if he is going to derail the dangerous Lambert. Meanwhile in Mullingar Eugene O’Reilly & Kells man Peter Flanagan cometogether in what they will hope will be a long and successful Leinster campaign. Leinster runners-up in 2010 the duo should have enough to see of the Offaly challenge of Kevin Cooke & Sean Ryan and progress to the next round

World Handball Championships moved to October 2012
World Handball Championships moved to October 2012
Following extensive meetings and, in conjunction with the World Handball Council, a decision has been made as follows:
In light of issues and delays surrounding the preparations for the World Handball Championships in 2012 in Ireland, it has been decided to put back the date for the hosting of this hugely prestigious event in Ireland. This is in light of major work to be carried out in preparation for the event and now that the proposed new National Handball Centre in Croke Park has been ruled out to being ready in time to host this event.
It has already been passed and approved by GAA Handball Ireland Central Council that the World Championships will be hosted in conjunction with the Ulster GAA Council in Ulster Venues (with the use of North Leinster venues if required). Full details on venues will be released by end of May 2011.
This is a World Handball Council sanctioned event and, following discussion and authority by the World Handball Council Executive, it has been agreed to amend the date for the World Handball Championships (both 40x20 and 1-Wall) to a new date as follows:
