Crossakiel’s “coolboy’s” win in Wicklow
Yesterday in Coolboy Co. Wicklow Gary Reilly & Johnny Reilly caused a huge shock when they ousted Wexford’s Darren Lambert & James Maddock in the 3rd round of the Leinster Juvenile A 40 x 20 championships at U-17 doubles level. The feat was all the more remarkable considering Johnny Reilly was a late replacement for Jack Tunney. It goes to show the strength in depth that the Crossakiel club have now at their disposal with a Juvenile club only started in the club 12 months ago. Reilly & Reilly took the 1st game by 21-14 but were caught by the Wexford lads in the second with the slaneysiders recording a narrow win in game 2. In the tie breaker and urged on by Johnn Reilly Snr & Kevin Reilly the Royals roared back into contention. Getting the breaks at the right time the duo held firm despite a spirited comeback by Wexford. At the end of a fantastic match Gary & Johnny had beaten a strongly fancied Wexford side. A great result by all accounts and this will stand to them into the knockout stages of the championships.
Result: Gary Reilly & John Reilly (Meath) dft Darren Lambert & James Maddock (Wexford) 21-14, 17-21, 11-6

Reilly & Tunney face Royal tilt with Wexford
There is an all Crossakiel pairing in the 3rd of the Leinster Juvenile Championships with Gary Reilly & Jack Tunney representing the County at U-17 doubles level. The Crossakiel duo yet to taste action in Leinster having received byes in the 1st two rounds, come up against formidable opponents in Wexford's Darren Lambert & James Maddock. Reilly has been clubs's champion for the 2nd year in a row of the Club's Juvenile Christmas competition. Both Gary & Jack are training regularly under National Coach of the Year Eugene O'Reilly. Maddock was a member of the Wexford U-16/U-17 team that lost to Tipperary in last year's All-Ireland 60 x 30 team final. Meath will surely be tested in this match by the Wexford lads and certainly Gary & Jack will have to be alert to the young slaneysiders espected onslaught.

Baugh & Reilly in Leinster Championships
Leinster Juvenile A 40 x 20 championships Meath v Louth
Saturday 12th February in O’Raghallaighs Drogheda at 12 noon.
Boys U17 Singles: James Baugh (Meath) v Brian Collins (Louth)
Boys U-16 Singls: Johnny Reilly (Meath) v Garry Kelly (Louth)
Two of the Crossakiel’s most successful Juvenile players in the last 12 months are in action this weekend with Meath. Tomorrow in the O’Raghallaigh’s handball centre in Drogheda James Baugh takes on Louth’s Brian Collins in the U-17 singles while Johnny Reilly Jnr faces Gary Kelly also Louth in the U-16 singles. In the corresponding fixture last year both players suffered narrow defeats to Kildare & Dublin opponents respectively. It was in the 60 x 30 court the players excelled with James Baugh winning the Leinster Juvenile B U-16 singles title with a hard earned but fully merited victory over Kildare’s Martin O’Donnell over 3 games. Johnny Reilly was unlucky to go down to Wicklow’s William Quaile in the U-15 Singles Leinster final in a 3 game thriiller 3 days later in Kells. Since last November the players have been training regularly in Moylough and have played challenge matches against Kingscourt, Abbeylara,Delvin & Drogheda in recent months. Club Coach Eugene O’Reilly has been putting the club players through their paces and the players will be better prepared for the challenges ahead in this year’s championships.
